Searching the Cass County Court Docket
Start a Cass County court docket search through the state's own portal, Missouri Case.net. Cass County runs no separate public case database of its own. Case.net gives you four ways in. The options are Litigant Name Search, Filing Date Search, Case Number Search, and Scheduled Hearings & Trials Search. Pick the Cass County - 17th Judicial Circuit option. Do that before you run a search aimed at Cass County. Your ticket or court notice carries the spelling or identifier that makes the match easy.
A name search can pull up more than one division or case type in Cass County. Not every result is fully public, either. Protected people and restricted matters may be left out. When you have a case number, type it exactly as printed. Then open the Case Header and Docket Entries tabs on the result.
- Open Missouri Case.net and choose the Cass County search path that matches the information available.
- Select Cass County - 17th Judicial Circuit for a Cass County court docket.
- Enter the litigant name, a narrow Cass County filing-date range, or the case or ticket number.
- Open the matching Cass County result and compare the case type, division, parties, and current docket entries.
- Use the Cass County Circuit Clerk or a courthouse public terminal if an accessible public document or official copy is still needed.
Cass County Court Docket Search Paths
Each search path on Case.net answers a different question about a Cass County case. Name search works when you know how a party's name is spelled. Filing Date Search narrows a Cass County court docket to a short window of time. Case Number Search is strongest for a citation. A Cass County citation or court notice may name the matter directly. Scheduled Hearings & Trials Search serves as a calendar fallback. Still, a listed hearing date is not proof the hearing ever took place.
| Search path | Key input | Cass County use |
|---|---|---|
| Litigant Name Search | Name and court selection | Choose Cass County - 17th Judicial Circuit. |
| Filing Date Search | Filed From and Filed To | Use a narrow Cass County date range to limit mixed case types. |
| Case Number Search | Case/Ticket Number | Best route when a Cass County notice or citation supplies the identifier. |
| Scheduled Hearings & Trials | Date range and court selection | Check a proposed Cass County event, then confirm any moved setting. |
Button labels and filters on a court docket portal can change without notice. Rather than count on a promised download, a Cass County docket search user should stick to the official Cass County search paths.
Inside a Cass County Court Docket
Think of a Cass County court docket as the running log of a case. It is not the whole case file. Court Operating Rule 4 sets out the uniform record system. Its fields let public dockets and indexes work together. A single entry might record a filing, a hearing, an order, a plea, or a disposition. Some entries include a document link. A visible event line, though, does not guarantee the document behind it is public.
| Case number | A Cass County identifier can include year, location, category, sequence, and an optional subcase. The local location code should not be guessed. |
|---|---|
| Parties and attorneys | Case Header information identifies the people or entities the Cass County public record permits Case.net to display. |
| Docket entries | Dated event lines for filings, orders, hearings, and other Cass County case activity. |
| Setting | A Cass County setting can show a date, time, judge or division, hearing type, and sometimes location or status. |
| Document link | A hyperlinked entry can have an attachment available to the current Cass County viewer; an unlinked entry may not. |
| Disposition | The recorded result or status, with the date and manner shown where public. |
On the official Case.net File Viewer, an ECASE marker means the Cass County case is fully electronic and has no paper file. The Categories pane limits which documents a user sees. The All category shows only what that user's access level permits.
Cass County Docket Terms
Knowing plain docket terms keeps a searcher from mistaking a routine case event for a final result. Missouri's statewide court vocabulary covers Cass County, with added local flavor from circuit and municipal divisions.
- Docket entry
- A dated line recording a Cass County court event. It can exist without a public document attachment.
- Case Header
- The Case.net tab containing case-level identifying and status information.
- Law day
- A Cass County local-rule day for listed proceedings, not a promise that any case will be heard then.
- Continuance
- A change to a scheduled court date. A request does not become a granted change without court action.
- Backer sheet
- The Cass County uniform citation record contains traffic-specific fields such as court dates and disposition data.
Newer statewide formats look like YY-[location]-CR#####-## or YY-[location]-CV#####-AC. Those patterns come from Court Operating Rule 4.04. They are illustrations only, not sample Cass County cases, and they never replace the exact number printed on a Cass County notice.
Courts That Keep Dockets in Cass County
The Circuit Court of the 17th Judicial Circuit serves as the main trial court. It covers both Cass County and Johnson County. Its Cass County Circuit Clerk handles filings and records. Dockets here can come from circuit, associate, family, probate, juvenile, and municipal divisions. The court name and division listed in Case.net tell you where to route a follow-up request for a Cass County trial-court docket.
| Court or division | Docket covers | Where to search or ask |
|---|---|---|
| Circuit Court of the 17th Judicial Circuit | State trial matters filed in Cass County. | Missouri Case.net and the Cass County Circuit Clerk. |
| Associate and family divisions | Assigned civil, criminal, family, juvenile, and other matters. | Cass County Case.net identifies the division; the Cass County Circuit Clerk routes record questions. |
| Probate Division IV | Estate, guardianship, trust, and related proceedings. | Case.net and the Cass County Circuit Clerk, subject to access restrictions. |
| Municipal divisions | Cass County city ordinance and local traffic cases. | Cass County city court contact for local procedure; Case.net for the state record layer. |
Appeals go elsewhere. The Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District reviews state appeals, while federal civil, criminal, and bankruptcy cases run on separate federal systems rather than the Cass County court docket in Case.net. Keeping that state-court line straight stops a failed federal search from being mistaken for a missing circuit case.
Cass County Court Docket Access
The Cass County Circuit Clerk and Courts page points to the Cass County Justice Center as the main clerk and judge location. The address is 2501 W. Mechanic, Harrisonville, Missouri 64701. The clerk counter is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including the lunch hour. The general Circuit Clerk number is 816-380-8227. One facility page also carries an older Wall Street reference. So confirm the location before traveling if your notice shows the old address.
The Justice Center facility listing shows the official page for the Cass County court docket's main in-person route.
Do not confuse the Justice Center with the Old Historical Courthouse. That building houses Cass County government offices. It is not the primary Circuit Clerk stop for routine Cass County case-file questions.
How to Find Court Dates and Settings
For a Cass County date range, run Scheduled Hearings & Trials Search in Case.net, open the case record, and compare it with your court notice. The notice controls your duty to appear. Settings can be continued, cancelled, or moved, so the docket and the clerk remain the practical confirmation channels. Cass traffic instructions note that a ticket may not yet show up if the filing has not reached the system.
Under Local Rule 2.3, Division I law days fall on the first and third Monday of each month, and Division II law days on the second and fourth Monday. A Cass County law day is not a general trial calendar. For the fuller workflow, see Cass County Court Dates.
Note: A session date on a city page or an old calendar is helpful context, but the current case entry and your court notice remain the safest confirmation.
Cass County Municipal Docket Routes
Not every Cass County court docket starts at the county level. Belton, Raymore, Harrisonville, Pleasant Hill, and Peculiar each run a municipal division inside the circuit-court structure. These divisions handle city ordinance and local traffic cases. Their city pages carry session times, payment options, and clerk contacts. Case.net adds the statewide public record view.
Who wrote the ticket matters most. Harrisonville treats traffic and ordinance cases from its police, animal control, and code enforcement officers as municipal matters. Citations from the Missouri Highway Patrol or the Cass County Sheriff's Office are different. They land in the Cass circuit traffic docket instead. Ask a city clerk about local venue or payment. For a circuit case, the Cass County Circuit Clerk is the central contact. Per Cass County traffic instructions, search Case.net first for a missing ticket. If nothing comes up, call 816-380-8227 option 5.
Public Access to Court Dockets
Missouri court rules set the terms for a Cass County court docket lookup. Public-record law does too. Case.net can display public party and attorney details, docket entries, and scheduled hearings. It does not promise remote access to every attached document, though. Court Operating Rule 4 sorts records into categories. It also sets confidentiality. The Missouri Sunshine Law favors access, subject to its listed exceptions.
Key Rules:
Missouri Court Operating Rule 4 establishes court-record, index, docket, and confidentiality rules.
RSMo 610.011 states the Missouri Sunshine Law public-access policy, subject to statutory exceptions.
RSMo 211.321 generally restricts public access to juvenile court and social records.
RSMo 610.140 provides expungement procedures and confidential treatment for expunged material.
When a document will not open from home, ask three things. Is it public? Is a redacted copy available? Does a courthouse terminal show more? Also, a blank name search never proves that no case exists.
Cass County Court Docket Terminal Access
Case.net's remote-access rules draw a line. What a home viewer can open is limited. A public terminal inside a Cass County courthouse may display more. Remote access to public documents expanded on July 1, 2023. Redaction duties for filers came along. Even so, document security can still block a public link. The Circuit Clerk can walk a visitor through the public-terminal or copy-request process for any Cass County court docket. The office cannot offer legal advice.
Plan for the building itself. Local Rule 11.1 bans electronic devices, phones, laptops, tablets, cameras, and recorders alike in the Cass and Johnson Justice Centers. An exception may apply. Bring a case number or an exact name spelling, and allow time for security and check-in. Ask about the public-access procedure rather than assuming your device comes in. The official Circuit Clerk page posts current division contacts, forms, costs, and other court-access details.
That clerk page earns its keep when Case.net names a division but leaves you guessing which Cass County office handles a copy or a procedural question.
Docket Records at the Clerk's Office
One office covers nearly everything. The Cass County Circuit Clerk files and keeps records for criminal, traffic, municipal, civil, juvenile, family, probate, and small-claims cases. Local rules require a JIS Party Information Sheet to travel with any initiating pleading. Attorneys file through the Missouri eFiling System where it is implemented. Local Rule 4.10 grants an exemption. It covers self-represented litigants who are not lawyers facing mandatory e-filing.
Copies carry set prices. The Cass County cost schedule, effective September 24, 2025, lists the prices. A certified court document runs $1. A photocopy runs $0.25 per page. Under Local Rule 5.2, a sound-recording copy runs $20. The written request must give the case style and hearing date. Fees can change, so confirm the current amount before you order.
Cass County Circuit Clerk

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Cass County publishes division inboxes for civil, associate circuit, criminal, domestic, protection orders, traffic, and copies, which makes routing a request simple. A clerk can pull a file and explain procedure. Cass traffic materials are clear that clerks cannot give legal advice.
Cass County Court Docket Fees and Copies
An online view is not the same as an official record product. The Cass County court-cost schedule says filing fees go to the Circuit Clerk by cash, credit card, or money order, while attorneys e-file. The figures below are selected record-access items from the 2025 schedule, not a quote for any particular request.
| Item | Listed amount | Practical point |
|---|---|---|
| Certified court document | $1 | Confirm whether additional copy charges apply. |
| Photocopy | $0.25 per page | Identify the case and the record requested. |
| Sound recording copy | $20 | Written request needs the case style and hearing date. |
| Probate certification | $1.50 | Probate Division IV has its own revised 2025 fee list. |
The official Cass County court-cost schedule lets you verify any current fee, and the official Cass County contact directory shows the court and clerk routing that follows.
The county contact directory helps you tell a Circuit Clerk request from a general county-office question. That distinction can save a trip or a misdirected call.
Cass County Court Docket Divisions
Numbered divisions make a Cass County docket more specific than a single court label. Divisions I and II sit with circuit judges. Divisions III through VI belong to associate judges. Local Rule 6.1.4 names Divisions III, V, and VI as the Cass Family Court divisions for listed domestic, juvenile, adoption, child-support, and protection-order matters. Probate materials point to Probate Division IV. Cass County's official judges and divisions page lays out the public division map that makes a Case.net court assignment easier to read.
A division label is a good starting point for a clerk inquiry. Remember that restricted family, juvenile, guardianship, or sealed records still follow the access rules attached to the case.
Cass County Court Docket Locations
Two Cass County buildings get mixed up. The Justice Center on W. Mechanic in Harrisonville carries the working docket and clerk route. The Old Historical Courthouse at 102 E. Wall offers a renovated courtroom and a public-record-access feature, but it houses county-government offices like the County Auditor, County Clerk, Recorder, Treasurer, and marriage-license functions.
Cass County's Justice Center handles today's work. Any current Circuit Clerk docket or case-file request goes there, not the old courthouse.
Cass County Court Dockets by City
Cass County's five largest incorporated cities each run a municipal division. It handles ordinance violations and local traffic cases. Case.net sits on top as the statewide docket search layer. The city cards below carry 2020 Census rankings. They add the local court route for each place. Session patterns and clerk contacts differ. They change from city to city. That matters when a citation came from city police, code enforcement, or animal control. In those situations, pair a countywide docket search with the specific city court.
Belton Docket Search
23,953 in the 2020 Census. Belton Municipal Division handles city traffic and ordinance cases, with Case.net for the record search.
Raymore Docket Search
22,941 in the 2020 Census. Raymore Municipal Division provides local procedure while Case.net carries the public case route.
Harrisonville Docket Search
10,121 in the 2020 Census. City Hall handles local municipal matters, while state and county citations follow the correct issuing route.
Pleasant Hill Docket Search
8,777 in the 2020 Census. The municipal court has evening sessions and Case.net-based case access.
Peculiar Docket Search
5,621 in the 2020 Census. The city says current municipal case information is available through Case.net.
Missouri's incorporated-places table provides the official 2020 place-count figures behind this Cass County city ranking.
These five routes don't build separate countywide docket databases. They simply layer local court contacts onto the same state record system.
Map and Directions to the Cass County Justice Center
The Cass County Circuit Clerk keeps circuit, associate, family, juvenile, probate, small-claims, traffic, and municipal-division files for the 17th Judicial Circuit at the Cass County Justice Center, 2501 W. Mechanic, in Harrisonville. This is a different building from the county's Old Historical Courthouse on the square, which now houses county-government offices rather than the Circuit Clerk's docket counter. Visitors should allow extra time for security and check-in before reaching the clerk's counter.
Cass County Justice Center
2501 W. Mechanic
Harrisonville, MO 64701
816-380-8227
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Local Rule 11.1 bars phones, laptops, cameras, and other recording devices from the Justice Center, and photographing, recording, or broadcasting a proceeding requires authorization. Courtroom-appropriate attire is expected, and interpreter or ADA accommodations should be requested through the clerk in advance. The county's own facility page still uses an older "2501 W. Wall St." label for the same building, so confirm the Mechanic Street address before relying on an older notice.
